Churwell Environmental Volunteers

An award-winning 4-acre site of mixed woodland linked by greenways with all-weather footpaths surrounded by wildflowers. The woodland is home to many birds and contains a stream, a bird hide, three ponds and a railway.

The site is open all year round and free to enter. There are several circular walks of different lengths throughout the woodland. Some walks are suitable for pushchairs and wheel chairs.
The main entrance to the site can be accessed opposite The Oaks on Westwood Side, Churwell, Morley, Leeds, LS27 7QU

Volunteering opportunities / Upcoming events

We have a large group of volunteers who undertake many woodland activities, such as woodland coppicing, wildlife habitat management, footpath maintenance, dry stone wall construction, waterways management, community events and woodland railway maintenance.
Volunteers meet on Thursday mornings 9.30 – 12.00 and Saturday afternoons 1.30 – 4.00.
